Class arrangements
Last week our teaching staff undertook the process to create class lists for next year. I would like to acknowledge the careful consideration taken by staff in the allocation of student class groupings for 2022. This is a temporary plan for class groupings until the eighth day of school next year. Please continue to promote our school and encourage our community as the place to enrol for the future. Staff have now been notified which year level and class they will be teaching for 2022. On Monday students had a wonderful, engaging session with their new teacher. I was most impressed how settled all students were and relaxed in their new classroom environments. Over the school holidays we will be again promoting our Meet and Greet BBQ. This morning provides an opportunity for families to drop in school supplies, collect uniforms, spend time in the classroom with the teacher and connect in with peers. If parents have any questions or queries this is the perfect morning to check in with the teacher before school re commences. This event will take place on Friday the 21st January from 8am -10am
Reporting period
Teachers are now finalising the reporting process for Semester Two and are preparing for the dissemination of this document in the last week of this term. It is a great opportunity to celebrate the growth in every child’s learning and individual achievements. Students and staff have been working hard on setting goals towards this latest report. Once reports are emailed use this opportunity to unpack and discuss the report with your child. Valuable feedback given from the teacher will be great conversation for families to discuss commencing a new year of learning in 2022.
Farewell 2021
Can I take this opportunity in the last school newsletter for the year to farewell outgoing staff from our school community. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to our students and I wish you all the most success on your new ventures.
In closing I would like to wish all of our families a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. I know after this year in particular it is important to rest and recharge the batteries. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back in 2022. Stay safe and thank you for all your support throughout the year.

Goodbye for now
It is with a heavy heart that I will be saying goodbye to Bowen State School and all of the amazing staff, students and community members this little slice of paradise has to offer. As you are most likely aware, 2022 will see me move to Hughenden SS to become acting principal.
Over the past 2 years here in Bowen, I have had the privilege of working with some of the most dedicated teachers, students and parents that I have ever worked with in my entire career and have made many life-long friends along way. I can confidently say, with my hand on heart, that every student at this school receives an outstanding education.
My fingers will remain crossed for the stars to align in the future and let the right opportunity to come about, as one day my family and I hope to return to this community to settle in for the long run.
Regardless of where I am, Bowen will always be place I will remember fondly, and I am immensely grateful for all of the new learning opportunities Bowen State School and the community has afforded me.
Goodbye for now.

Cannonvale State School v Bowen State School Basketball Tournament
Recently we had our first interschool basketball tournament with Cannonvale State School. This was an exciting opportunity for our students to show off the skills they have worked so hard at this year. It was also the first time the students had to wear their brand new Bowen State School singlets. The day was going really well with players from all sides playing some great basketball. Unfortunately by lunchtime the rain arrived and we had to leave early as the highway may have isolated us in Cannonvale. To make up for this we had our own mini tournament here at school last week. All players are to be congratulated on how they played and conducted themselves on and off the court. Their skills have improved enormously this year and it is exciting to see what many of these players will be able to achieve next year.
Swimming Carnival
On Tuesday we had our junior and senior swimming carnival. Our juniors came to the pool to have some fun and show off the skills they have learnt in their swimming lessons this year. Our senior students also had the opportunity to participate in the same fun events, however they also could compete in the competitive events of 50m freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly. It was great to see all of our students have so much fun and to see the ability of our competitive swimmers was fantastic.
The winning house on the day was Leichhardt by 1 point. In fact there was only 3 points separating all three houses which was amazing!
Congratulations to our age champions for the competitive races:
9 Years: Alexis H and Murphy A
10 Years: Hannah F and Lincoln D
11 Years: Charlotte and Billy G
12 Years: Megan D-A and Hayden F
A huge thank you to all staff, students and parents who have helped in whatever way they have through 2021. For me moving to a new state and school was certainly a challenge but I can honestly say I have loved every minute and that due to everyone’s support through what has been a very busy year.
What an amazing year of sport it has been at Bowen State School. If I listed all the events and achievements I would take up many pages. Instead I would like to congratulate all students, regardless of age and ability, for giving sport a go this year. Whether that be in HPE, a sports trial, or carnival. You have all done yourselves and Bowen State School proud. Have a wonderful holiday and well deserved break and we will see you all back ready for another exciting year of sport in 2022! ?
