Age-appropriate pedagogy has been key to the rich learning activities, which have been enjoyed by all in Year 1 this term.  During HASS lessons, students have been learning about managed, natural and constructed features of local places.  To engage the students in this unit of work, Year 1C and Year 1M joined forces to create a 3-dimensional model of the front beach in Bowen.  This model included the Little Mango, Bird's Fish Bar, the jetty, ocean, sand, grassed area, the skate park, pirate park, exercise park and even the toilet block!  The children were then required to explain the locations of these features and to draw an ariel map of the front beach.  Oh what fun we have in Year 1!!!
