Classroom Learning

1A

Students in 1A have been reading a non- fiction text titled ‘Fur’. Mila and Evie and Declan and Kobi are reading and discussing what they have found out about fur and animals.

Currently, 2A are investigating 3 digit numbers and place value. We have begun to represent 3 digit numbers in a variety of ways including with MAB blocks, standard partitioning (436 = 400 + 30 + 6) and identifying the value of each digit in a 3 digit number. We will continue to build on our knowledge for the remainder of this term.

3A

3A have been enjoying many mathematical explorations on all things involving mass, length and capacity. We’ve explored a few concept however, our favourite activities were measuring our height and recording our longest throw in suitable metric units.

4A

This term, Mr Mitchell has been teaching students the mechanics of String Art. Together the students have designed patterns, transferred the patterns to boards and learnt the fine art of hammering nails accurately, threading string and tying knots. At the beginning there were bent nails, a few sore thumbs and some frustrated students. The improvement is remarkable and now it sounds like clog makers workshop with everyone busy making two works of art

5A

In Term 3, students in 5A will be interpreting the poem ‘Fur and feathers’ by AB Paterson.The poem is about a football game between a team of emus and a team of kangaroos. To introduce the Unit the students have drawn an emu using oil pastels.
