Principal
Dear Parent/carers,
Another fantastic start to the term, we continue to come together as a whole community – staff, students, parents and outside agencies all working together to improve the educational and emotional outcomes for ALL students.
Staff Changes
As each Term starts there are usually some staff changes and this Term is no different to the past. We congratulate Trevor Flaherty who has been successful in securing the Acting Principal position at Merinda State School for Term 3. Mrs Matilda Goode will be replacing Mr Flaherty during this time. We also welcome back from leave Mrs Janice LeBherz who will be working in our Learning Engagement Team and supporting students in Year 3 and Year 5.
School Opinion Survey:
On Monday 29th of July the School Opinion Survey will be open for staff, parents and students in Years 4, 5 and 6 to provide us with feedback around what we are doing well and the areas we need to improve on. Parents will receive a blue online access letter. These will be given to the eldest child in each family attending Bowen State School. Students will receive this next Monday. The online survey will open on Monday 29 July and be available until Friday 23 August.
If parents/caregivers do not have ready access to the internet to complete their survey online please contact the school office on 4786 9555 to organize access to a school computer.
It is important for all families to participate in the School Opinion Survey so that you have your say about what Bowen State School does well, and how we can improve. Last year only 41 families contributed, around 13% and this doesn’t provide enough information for the data to be a true reflection of how the school is going. We would love for an increase in the number of families participating this year. This is your opportunity to significantly contribute to the future plans of our school. Your answers are confidential, respected and very much sought after. Survey results are not reported in ways that an individual or an individual’s response can be identified.
2020 Enrolments
Enrolments for Prep students for 2020 opened last Monday 15 July, 2019. Parents who wish to enrol their children for Prep at Bowen State School in 2020 and have not completed and submitted an enrolment form need to collect a form from the office and return as soon as possible. We ask if you are aware of any parents who have children who will be enrolling in Prep next year that you pass the information on about 2020 enrolments. It is very important that parents who already have students at Bowen State School and will be enrolling a Prep in 2020, also return enrolment forms as soon as possible.
I look forward to the great work we are going to do in Term 3.
Kind regards,
Jemille Malouf
Principal
