Dear Parent/carers,

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all our students on another wonderful two weeks at Bowen State School. Our students make me so proud of how they follow our four values and as a school; we need to celebrate the brilliant start we have had to the school year. I am so excited about what we are going to achieve this year!

Leadership Induction

Last week’s parade focused on inducting our Year 6 students into their leadership roles for 2019. Firstly, I need to commend all our students on their focus and attention throughout the parade, especially are Prep students who are so new to special event ceremonies. We were all so proud of our new leaders and we know they will do us proud during 2019. Congratulations!

How we communicate at Bowen State School

Classroom – your child’s class teacher will communicate in many ways (emails, phone calls, messages home, homework books, and apps. Each year we offer two parent teacher interviews, held in Term 1 and Term 3 and two report cards, which are issued to all students at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.

Newsletters – can be accessed through the Bowen State School Facebook Page and our website www.bowenss.eq.edu.au.

SMS Text messaging service for absences – parents/carers will be notified of an unexplained student absence via SMS text message. You can then reply with the reason for the absence via return text or update your child’s absence by contacting the school

P&C AGM

We welcome back our P&C for the 2019 school year. Their AGM will be held on Monday 11th March at 6pm in the Library. We look forward to the nominations for the new Executive Roles and the continued progress of the great work and input the P&C has experienced in 2018. All welcome.

Next week I will be attending the Principal Conference in Brisbane. This event is held bi-annually and sees principals from across the state come together. In my absence, Mrs Mayo will be leading the school, supported by the members of the Leadership Team.
