Classroom Work

PT

Prep T is learning about 'Casey the caterpillar'. It is a handwriting program that makes it easier for young writers to form letters and write neatly. We have listened to the story, drawn the story and read the book. We even made the story of Casey with play dough! What great learners we have in Prep T.

Some students from 1W/P performed at parade this morning. They sang and performed "Hickory Dickory Dock".

This week our class has begun to revise our knowledge of rainbow facts. Rainbow facts are sums that add up to 10. This week we have started to look at the combinations of facts that add up to 10. For example, 6 + 4 = 10 and 2 + 8 = 10. We will then extend our knowledge by looking at facts with missing addends and subtrahends in them. For example, 7 + __ = 10 and 10 - __ = 1. After we gain success with this, we will start looking at representing rainbow facts using the part-part-whole format.

3 C

3C have been working hard so far this term, to learn all they can about persuasive language. Students are working towards writing a letter to Mr Payne to persuade him that we need more of something at Bowen State School. We are looking at several texts to assist us in our learning: Dr Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham, I Wanna Iguanna, and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (told from the point of view of the Big Bad Wolf)."

6 F

Year 6F have been discussing the purpose and power of words. Words can entertain, inform or persuade. It's important to choose the right words, for the right audience, and to make each word count. This student used her powers of persuasion to express her distaste with the practice of caging wild animals.
