Prep L

In Prep L we have had lots of fun exploring 2D shapes and finding them in our environment. We went on a shape hunt finding lots of different shapes around our school. 

1/2I

In 1/2I this term for Science we are looking at different materials and their properties.  After we learn about the properties of materials, we need to decide which material would be best to make a boat (year one) and a lunchbox (year two).  We need to explain why we choose that material using scientific terms. 

We found objects in our classroom made of different materials.  We found rubber, cardboard, wood, plastic, foam, metal and fabric.

6R

In 6R, we have been doing a Reading Programme called Literature Circles. In Lit. Circles we split into groups and read a large chapter book. Each week the groups have separate meetings to share the jobs we have done and then decide how many chapters we are going to read the following week. Some of the jobs are Discussion Director, Creative Connector and Passage Picker and relate to the Comprehension Strategies. We feel that Lit Circles are really fun because we don’t just read the book, we make it come to life in the activities that we do.
