GO UPDATE

I have had many discussions this week with students about:

  1. Things in their control
  2. Things out of their control

Students need to put time and energy into what they can control.  Eg. How they react, their coping strategies, communicating etc.  Ask your child what are three strategies they use to cope with stress.

A week of celebrating all things Chaplaincy with heaps of fun and raising awareness of the Chaplaincy role Bowen State School.

Chappy Beau Brooker is a key member of the school's Student Support Team and school community, his role is funded by the Federal Government for two days per week and State Government two days per week.   

We are really lucky to have such a connected, fun, outgoing, professional, knowledgeable and approachable Chaplain that goes above and beyond for the Bowen State School Community. 

What does our Chaplain do?

  • Chappy provides breakfast on Tuesdays under C Block
  • Chappy provides social, emotional and spiritual support to individual students through:Chap.png

* Student check-ins and mentoring,

* Pastoral conversations

* Group work such as Christien group (year 5-6 Thursday afternoons)

* Lunch time connection with students

* Staff support

* Chef for sausage sizzles

* Attendance task force team member. 

* Chappy supports all whole school events

Reconciliation Week

Bowen State School we acknowledge our part in reconciliation.  We work hard to collectively build relationships and a school community that values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and futures. 

NQBP Reconciliation Action Plan presentation: community

Our wonderful CEC Ms Karenne Williams represented the school as a special guest speaker on Tuesday night at the NQBP community presentation of their Reconciliation Action Plan at the Grand View Hotel.  Ms Williams spoke about the actions of the Bowen State Schoo

l community in ‘taking action’ with the new yarning circle project she is facilitating alongside Bowen State School staff, parents and community support from: NQBP, Whitsunday Regional Council, JURU, ADANI, Toyota, Cowboys community team, Hillery Bowen Industrial Hire and Pilchers Hire.  The role of the CEC and school staff in the capacity of building positive partnerships between families, school and wider community was also presented.  We are proud of our strong community partnerships as a school and thank all involved.
