Hear to Learn program

What a fantastic opportunity for students from Bowen State School to have access to professional hearing screening from Hear and Say, all the way from Brisbane as part of the Thiess funded Hear to Learn program. 43 students were screened.   It is through early detection that students experience more success at school.  Bowen State School thanks sponsor Thiess and Hear and Say for the time and expertise, we will welcome Hear and Say back with open arms in future.

Parents please don’t miss out on these opportunities in future, give the school a call and we can help you out with permission forms etc.   Do you notice your child:

• does’t respond when called
• has a dip in school grades (because they can’t hear the teacher possibly when sick)
• complains of a ringing sound in their ears (tinnitus)
• talks too loudly
• can't hear videos, when background noise
• pronounces words incorrectly
• appears inattentive and prone to daydreaming

If so, the Child Youth Health Nurse Janet Russell is at the hospital and can screen your child for free you phone and make an appointment via the hospital.

Colour Splash and Dash

Wowsers, we are so close to our target of $4000!  Way to go team!  What a fabulous whole school event.  It was so much fun…. let’s do it again next year!  Thank you to all involved especially Ms H, Mrs Smalley, Mrs Upkett, Clint Jorgensen  and the P and C for donation of the sausages. Create an online sponsorship page and raise $1 to go into the draw for a $20,000 family prize. Fundraise over the school holidays, bring the money to the office on Tueday, the first day back.  You can order your prizes via your online account or prizes are to be selected the first week of term 2.
