25 brand new computers have been installed in the Computer Lab in our Library just in time ready for NAPLAN commencing Wednesday 15th March in week 8.
NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national standards and over time. Students sit assessments in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The questions assess content linked to the Australian Curriculum: English and Mathematics.
During this testing period students will complete a number of different tests over the 10 day testing period. Attendance is imperative during this time so please do your best to make sure all Year 3 and Year 5 students come to school every day.
The P & C will be providing breakfast to all students in year 3 and 5 over the Naplan period and a small celebration will also occur for these students once all of the test have been finished.
In other news our Reading HUB is back in action before school every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:15am – 8:40. Any students in year 1 or year 2 are welcome and encouraged to come along.
The books that the students are reading now align with the new phonics program that has been implemented throughout our school from P-4 this year. More information around our exciting new Phonics Program will be in the next newsletter.
