HOSES Update
2023 Challenge Games
What a sensational three days our 2023 Challenge Games team had in Townsville last week. 11 students, Mrs Radcliffe, Miss Chandler, some family members and myself were lucky enough to travel by bus last Tuesday to Townsville for the 29th Challenge Games. The event promotes fun, friendship and participation in a range of sports and events for students with a disability. The 11 students did Bowen State School proud over the two days competing with wonderful resilience, persistence and a growth mindset to ensure they got the most out of the Games. Students had shirts full of ribbons and smiles on faces as they competed in track and field events, AFL, wheelchair rugby, frisbee event and cricket to name just a few events offered. It was a privilege taking all 11 students to the Challenge Games as they exhibited our school values and participated with impeccable sportsmanship. Well done!
Student Reviews
Chris loved everything about the Challenge Games especially competing in a range of different events and winning lots of ribbons. "I won 5 ribbons on the first day and 6 on the second day. I also loved getting pizza for dinner one night and juicy sausages that were delicious on the second night."
Pouvalu's favourite part was spending time outside with friends. "I loved being on television and Mr Shaw saying how incredible Bowen State School is. It was so much fun and I want to go back!".
