DG meeting
Last week I was privileged to spend an hour with the Director - General of the Department of Education Queensland Micheal De ‘Ath and Acting Deputy Director General State Schools Sharon Schimming. We talked candidly around a range of topics.
Micheal shared:
- Urgency to support our most vulnerable students in our schools and to work collaboratively with our surrounding state schools in our communities to solve our challenges
- Early childhood and transitions for families
- Staffing shortage challenges including recruitment to rural and remote communities
- Retaining and building the reputation of State Education.
All exciting spaces to watch under his new leadership. I loved our similar values about our love of working with children and passion for our industry.

Last week I received the official report from our 3-day whole school review. This includes our key findings and celebrations. The full report and attached documents are now available to view on our school website.

MISSING A DAY MATTERS
As we get closer to the end of the term it is important for students to come to school every day. Teachers are finalising reports and also starting new units of learning. The beginning of the unit sets students up for success. Please support your child to be at school every day.
If you require assistance in getting your child to school, please call us as we have a support team who can help.
2022 STUDENT COUNCIL
Congratulations to our elected Student Council President- Tobias Watego, Secretary- Brooke Higgins and Treasurer- Henry Woodhouse. Stay tuned for the exciting events they are planning.

On Friday 3rd June, our Preps, Grade 1's and Grade 2's had the priviledge to go to Queensbeach State School for Under 8's week. There was loads of activites to participate in such as painting, making kites, decorating cookies, face painting, blowing bubbles and playdoh. The local Police Officers and Firemen were also there, and the children enjoyed looking in the Police Car and Fire Truck.
Thank you for the invite QBSS! We can't wait until next year already!
