End of a Productive Term
As we close the final days of a very busy and productive term one, I would like to acknowledge the collective efforts of staff, students and families to collective support our goal this year, that “all students reach their full potential in English”. The significant investment within the teaching and learning in Term 1 has been around teachers being provided the resources and time to gain clarity of the new Version 9 Australian Curriculum.
We have ensured the knowledge was then transferred to the students through the use of the 5 questions for students, understanding of the learning intention and success criteria and use of the learning walls in the classroom. We will be collating term one data to map our impact and look forward to sharing the next steps at the upcoming parent teacher interviews early on Term 2.
Next term we will continue to see the great learning through the “Leadership Walks” in classrooms every fortnight and celebrate that twice a term teacher with leaders will be released to see great practice in other classes and reflected on what they saw, heard and wonder. This positive opportunity will allow teachers to see the great work happening and gain ideas and confirm that we are all driving great practice at our school.
I'd like to wish all our families, staff and students a safe and well earnt restful break to spend quality time our beautiful area. For those traveling away, stay safe and I look forward to everyone’s return to an action-packed Term 2. Please keep your eye out for information regarding: Playgroup, ANZAC Services, upcoming cultural, learning enrichment and sporting events early next term. This information will be posted on the school sign and within the school Facebook page.

Reading Hub was being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the library from 8:15am to 8:40am during Term 1. All students in years one and two were encouraged to attend.
During this term, many students worked hard to become one of our Reading Hub Top Dogs by attending Reading Hub each morning. We also introduced our Reading Rooster, who is awarded to the class with the highest attendance rate at Reading Hub. We are proud to announce that 2G were the overall winners gaining the highest attendance rate per student during term 1. Well done!
Reading Hub will commence in Week 1 of Term 2. Parents, carers and interested community members are very welcome to come along and be one of our Reading Hub helpers alongside our dedicated staff and students.

Reading Hub- it’s a great way to start your day! We hope to see you there.
In Prep S, students have been showing off what they have learnt this term with finishing assessments. Each students has tried hard and Miss Smith and Mrs Kerr are very proud.
We are finishing the last week of term 1 with fun easter craft and linking it to learning about colours, patterns, shapes and numbers.
Have a great Easter break, and we look forward to seeing you back in term 2!

This term In Math 2I have been learning to partition numbers. We are learning to show our numbers with standard partitioning and flexible partitioning.
Hi everyone!
My name is Ashlyn Kay and I am the department of education Occupational therapist for the Bowen region and I have the privilege to work at BSS every Monday. My role is supporting students access, participate and achieve in their school based “occupations” which can include being a learner, playing with friends, self care skills such as toileting and basically EVERYTHING in between. If your child has been referred for school OT support, you will receive a consent form to sign. My role is not to provide one on one therapy, but to work collaboratively with students classroom teachers and support staff to build their capability when working with students. If you see me around, please say hello ?
